What German cars need that a general shop skips
German platforms are not domestic cars with different badges. Volkswagen, Audi, BMW and Porsche run manufacturer specific diagnostic protocols across a dozen or more control modules. A generic code reader sees a fraction of that network, which is why a shop without the right software ends up guessing at the half of the car it cannot talk to.
The second gap is specification. These engines and transmissions call for exact fluid standards, exact torque values and exact tightening sequences, and many fasteners are single use by design. A fluid that looks close enough on the shelf is not close enough in a DSG or a ZF automatic. Getting that detail wrong means the job comes back.

Who does the work
Alex Silva owns the shop and runs the bench. He is a Master Mechanic, VW certified, Honda certified and dealership-trained, with 20+ years of hands-on experience. His specialty is the work other shops hand back: electrical faults, intermittent problems and diagnostics that take patience rather than a parts cannon.
His father Roger Silva has spent over 40 years on air-cooled Volkswagens at this same location, which is where the family's German car history starts. A&D Auto Workz is family owned, and the name on the building belongs to the people working on your car.

Do I have to go to the dealer for VW or Audi service?
No. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a manufacturer cannot void your factory warranty simply because an independent shop performed the maintenance. The work has to be done to the manufacturer's specification with the correct parts and fluids, and you should keep the receipts and records.
Why does my VW or Audi need carbon cleaning?
Direct injection engines spray fuel straight into the cylinder, so no fuel washes across the back of the intake valves. Oil vapor drawn through the crankcase ventilation system bakes onto those valves instead. The deposits restrict airflow and show up as a rough cold idle, misfires and lost power. Walnut blasting removes them.
